Here is our itinerary for May 7th thru the 14th. We (me, DW, DS4 and DD2) are driving from NW Florida and staying at Poly. We have FL resident seasonal passes and we’re WDW veterans. Once we arrive on property, we take WDW transportation – the van sits in the parking lot for the week. We are on DDP for this trip.
Day 1: Sat, May 7th: travel; arrive Poly around 4:00pm; QS dinner probably at Capt Cook (Poly). Head to EP for the evening.
Day 2: Sun, May 8th: RD at DHS; QS lunch at DHS; afternoon break back at Poly; back to DHS for ADR at H&V 6:20pm; stay at DHS for EMH
Day 3: Mon, May 9th: morning and QS lunch at EP; afternoon break back at Poly; head to MK for ADR at CP 7:05pm; stay at MK for EMH
Day 4: Tue, May 10th: morning, QS lunch, and afternoon at AK; after AK closes (or earlier) head to ADR at Biergarten 7:45pm
Day 5: Wed, May 11th: morning at MK; QS lunch at MK or back at Poly; swim/relax at Poly rest of the day until ADR at O’Hana 8:10pm
Day 6: Thurs, May 12th: RD at DHS; QS lunch at DHS; afternoon break back at Poly; ADR at Kona Café 5:40pm; head to MK for rest of the day
Day 7: Fri, May 13th: morning at EP; lunch ADR at Le Cellier 12:55pm; afternoon break back at Poly; back to EP for QS dinner and EMH
Day 8: Sat, May 14th: Departure day; final pack and check-out; breakfast ADR at Chef Mickey 11:00am; head to MK for a couple hours before estimated 5:00pm departure; back to NW Florida; mourn that next trip isn’t until September…
A couple of caveats/comments for our plans.
In the past, we have had a “b***s-to-the-wall” mentality during our trips. We’ve traditionally not planned in afternoon breaks, even with two small kids – they’ve just napped in the double stroller. We’ve often been at MK from around 10:00am until EMH ended at 2:00am (call us nuts). This time, since our season passes have been “paid for” a couple times over already, we’re planning to take it easier, with afternoon breaks most days. Kids typically sleep about two hours max, so we’re not looking at overly extended breaks, just a short time to relax a bit, change clothes (it’s going to be hot in May), etc.
We are fans of EMH. We especially like the Disney Junior dance party for the kids during DHS EMH. Also, while DS is now tall enough to ride the 40” rides, we don’t do the thrill rides like SM, EE, RnR and ToT. We’ll often focus our time during EMH on things like riding SE or Nemo a couple times in a row.
We were originally going to do AK on Wed, coming back to Poly for our O’Hana ADR. But since AK is not recommended on Wed and is most recommended on Tue, we switched AK to Tue. We originally wanted to switch O’Hana and Biergarten days too, but that isn’t going to happen. However, I think we’ll be done at AK before the 6:00pm close which gives plenty of time to leisurely make it to WS for dinner. Plus, now on Wed, once we’re back at Poly by lunchtime, we never have to leave.
With the kids, we typically cannot do RD. However, with early (at least for us) evenings on Saturday and Wednesday, we ought to make RDs at DHS on Sun and Thurs to get FPs for TSM (hopefully two or even three sets of FPs during the day)
I think that’s it. Any comments? Basically looking for a sanity check to ensure there’s nothing we’ve really overlooked.
