F&W festival

I've read that F&W will start Friday Sept. 30. I've also read that Epcot does a soft opening the night before. This year it would be Thursday Sept. 29. We are planning to have the kids go to a Kids Club that night so we can have some adult time. I'd love to go check out F&W.
Has anybody ever been to the soft opening? Is it worth it?

We were there last year. Most stands were open and there were no crowds. We didn't sample anything while we were there, because my husband and I were planning a "date" the next night. Well the crowds were horrendous on the opening night and we never did get there. This year I am also planning on going on the 29th!

I can't speak for the soft opening, but the first 3-7 days are CRAZY busy. If you go those days, I would recommend starting in the middle or on the Canada side. It seems like everyone starts in Mexico.
