OK We are DVC so AP tickets would be $446 pp- do I just buy a 7 day mwy ticket for 260.95 (because it saves $23 off ticket price) or do I buy a $435.95 7day myw no exp, (saving $18) because it is closest in price to my ticket price.
I also have 2 sisters that will be purchasing regular AP's what ticket would you recommed for them if their AP is 552.74
(all amounts include tax, taken from UT mousesavers and Allears)
Thank you for you help- I do know we must use the tickes first and then upgrade to an AP.

Purchase the ticket that saves you the largest amount of money (so $23 is more then $18) without going over the price of your AP. So.....the 7-day MYW non-expire would actually put you over the amount because 435.95+18= 453.98 which is more then the price of the DVC AP.
Do the same with your sisters. I think that the best one for them is the 10 day non-expire at 523.95 saving $25 but that one is pretty close to the AP price with only a 3.95 difference so make positive that the numbers are correct. (I did just check it on the Disney site and am getting Disney's price (the one that matters) is $549.54.....so you should be good with that one.) Or just get the 6-day MYW for all of you to make it simpler and you know you will for sure be below the price of the AP and still saving $23 each.

Thanks Brenda-I think I will do the 7 day- to keep it simple for everyone like you said. I wonder why the $$$ is different with allears vs the wdw price? other great thing is that I am using disney visa now, so I will have the credit to spend on the trip!

I wasn't looking at that very closely. I'm showing the current price with the 7-day as only a $22 savings but the 6-day Hopper is $23 savings at $310.....so might want to go with that one. Still works for everyone and saves you an extra dollar. Plus.....you are paying even more now so more points on that Visa to use on the trip!! Either works though.

I think I am going to do the 6 day hopper( just was worried that it was a hopper and was afraid that it might not credit the hopper portion-kwim):RpS_blushing:??? I am a little crazy some times-$12 in disney visa and $92 savings means after my tiw card I am still up $29...Good at disney math:RpS_rolleyes:
My sisters will have their own$23 savings if they decide to upgrade

I have to start off saying I feel foolish because I am not getting it. LOL
I have been reading up on AP's and I feel like I am missing something. Using the first post as an example - DVC pay 446.00 pp. for an AP. I understand that when you use UT you save off the gate price. But what is the point of buying an UT ticket and then upgrading??
It is my understanding when you upgrade, they take the AP price 446.00 minus the "cost" your ticket ("cost" meaning what you paid at UT or what Disney charges??) and you pay the difference. Isn't that just the same as paying the 446.00 upfront??
Please help me understand.
*** I just found my answer from Brenda in a post a couple of months ago. I thought I would post it for those who might have needed a further explanation.
"Make sure that the cost you are comparing for that AP is Disney's price and not UT's price. (For example: An 8-day Hopper with No Expire at UT is $529.36 with a $29 savings. The AP is $552.74....so....looks good...until you remember that the Disney price for that ticket is $559.13.....so about $6.50 over the AP price.) It gets to be a bit tricky but it is very important that the Disney Price is the one you compare and not the UT price!!!""
Thanks a million,
