Just wanted to share-
We checked in at POR on Sat 1/7 with a room only- our pkg started on 1/8. I assumed we would have to go to a park GR to pick up pkg tickets a day early- but was able to get at POR. Super easy.
We were given a KTTW for our 1/7 room only- the CM was not sure if the park day was actually on it (after she punched some buttons) so she gave us a separate KTTW with 1 park day- no Dining Credits- then in the am I just had to go pick up new KTTW with remaining park days and Dining Credits.
I added an additional day later in week at AK GR and we were given a tyvec ticket with just our last 2 days- not attached to the old KTTW.

Just called to see about picking up our package tickets early and was told we could not do that. We are staying off site the first night and I wanted to be able to get into MK to see the Electrical Parade the evening before we offically check in. The travel agent I booked with told me no so I called Disney to see if I could get a different answer.

Not trying to be snarky here, but I would not believe your TA or the CM you spoke to. CMs on the phone know a lot less then you think.....especially when it comes to getting tickets.
It has been Disney policy for a while now to allow you to pick up your tickets 3 days before the start of your package. You will need to get them from Guest Services at the parks but you should be able to get the without any problems.

Thank you - I was hoping someone would know "better"!

As I posted above we were able to get them at our resort- even though I expected to have to go get them at a park.
It was no problem whatsoever. It almost seemed like the CM there expected me to get our tickets early!
I agree with Brenda- don't believe 99% of the stuff CMs and some TAs tell you.

This is one of those things that Disney would prefer you to not know about, but will make an exception for you if you ask. Naturally, it is not in their best interests to let you do this (because you can use it to work around blackout dates on package promotions), but so far, they do.
Note that this *can* change, though, and without much notice. So, have a backup plan in mind.

We will be requesting our park tickets early when we arrive for our Trip. We're arriving Feb 29th and have a room only for 3 nights. Our MYW & Free Dining starts Mar 3rd. We're hoping there won't be an issue picking up our tickets early either as I booked a MYW 7 day ticket even though for our package we'd have 6 days. The CM did ask me when I booked it why I was asking for 7 day tickets and only staying 6 days. I told her I had a room only ressie for 3 days prior and would be requesting our park tickets early - all she said was OK.
I think so long as I explain to the CM when we get there that I only want early "park tickets" and I don't expect to the the free dining we'll be OK.
My question: is the early park tickets we get "paper" and are they good for the entire trip - or do we get park tickets for each day of our stay?

We were given all our park days on a KTTW card. Then next am had to pick up our pkg KTTW- that also had all day's tickets plus meals etc.
At that point the orig KTTW was invalidated.
We did not get paper tickets until we added a day later in the week- at that point we were given a paper ticket but KTTW still had meal credits/room key.

I do believe that if you get the tickets from guest services at the parks that you get the Tuvex (they really aren't paper) tickets rather then the plastic ones but if you get them from the resort as Christine was able to do, then you will get them on plastic. This is just my understanding and I could be wrong but still wanted to mention it so you are prepared.

I think it's more interesting with a "C". Therefore I will most likely continue to spell it that way.
After all- isn't it just a made up word for a made up material?

At least we didn't call it Tyvex
