Has anyone experienced the afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian's Garden View Tea Room? Any rants or raves, menu suggestions, a la carte vs pre set offerings, favorite teas. I want to take my 11 yr old daughter for her birthday in September and she is definitely too old for princess tea party.

The Garden View Afternoon Tea is one of our must do's every trip. It's very relaxing and something different from the normal afternoon food break. I have not been with a kid so I'm not sure what to recommend for them but honestly you will do well with a pre-set offering or a la carte. The wait staff are very helpful for choosing the best options.

I think it is a good option for an 11 year old especially if she has outgrown the style of the princess tea party.

We did a multi generational thing there when JAmie was 11. It was great. Loved it. you can do a whole luncheon, or just do a la carte. I think this is a great idea!
As a matter of fact, I'm taking a first timer in May. She is from South Africa. Jiko was for sure on the short list, but I think she would also love this. I'm gonna go reserve now!

I am trying to work it into our plans. I think my Mom would enjoy this. My DH and DS12 may join us as I have read of husbands enjoying this too. Or they may just play in the video room:RpS_unsure:

I'll be a dissenting voice and say that we were really underwhelmed with the tea at the GF. However - we've done afternoon tea elsewhere where it was just better for a variety of reasons (better food, better service - we had a fantastic little 75 year old waiter at a hotel in San Francisco, better price), so I think my view is colored by that. I would probably think it was lovely if I had never done one anywhere else.
