View Full Version : Question About Changing A Reservation

I'm helping a friend plan her trip. There will be 2 adults and 3 (6 y/o girls, 16, y/o boy and 17 y/o boy) children so I got information on the family suites and Deluxe Villas for her. She came over yesterday and we went over some of her options. Before she went home she told me that it's still iffy on whether the boys are going or not, especially the 17 y/o because she just found out that he's going to WDW at the end of May. Their trip is going to be mid-June and she didn't know if he'd want to go back after just being there. (Personally I'd love back-to-back trips!) She said that if the boys didn't go she has a friend and her friend's DD that could go in their place.
I know that when you book your room and/or package that names and ages of everyone in your party has to be on the reservation. If the 2 boys don't go and the friend and friend's DD go I'm assuming she'd have to call to change the reservation (within the 45 days window?) to 3 adults and 2 children and giving the extra adult and childs name? Would there be a charge for an extra adult? Not sure exactly how it would work changing the dynamics of the party.

There are no extra adult charges in DVC villas, I think. Don't know about family suites, but I'm guessing it would be the same.
If the lead person (first person) on the reservation stays the same, it shouldn't be an issue to change the other people. But if there are any dining plan or tickets involved, it is possible that within 45 days of the stay date, they will charge you a fee to change, especially if the price is going down.
I can't think of any other issues.

Thanks Vicki!
My friend originally said she wanted a kitchen to fix breakfast and lunches and they would eat out for dinner. I showed her options with room, base tickets and the MYW package and with room, base tickets and MYW package plus dining. I think she may have decided she doesn't want to do all that cooking on vacation after all! LOL I told her how we did the Deluxe Dining Plan on our last trip and how it was great not worrying about whether we'd have enough credits or not so she had me run the numbers with the Deluxe Dining Plan. I think the sticker shock was a bit much for her! LOL
I showed her options for a family suite at All Star Music, family suite at Art of Animation, cabin at Ft. Wilderness and a 2 bedroom villa at Old Key West. She also was originally planning on only 4 days at WDW and then head to Canaveral. She's now thinking about just doing 7 days at WDW and going to Canaveral another time. Told her if it was me I'd go with the Art of Animation just because it's a newer resort and the price wasn't too bad.

She could also rent points to stay in a DVC resort. That's the most affordable way to stay in DVC.

I thought about that but don't know that she'd feel comfortable doing that...or I should say I don't know that her DH would "let" her do that with "his" money.
As long as the lead guest stays the same, you won't have trouble changing the names of the other guests on the reservation.
