I'll be coming in early June, with DH,DS6 and DS4. Planning on taking a day off from teh parks to spend at resort activities and pool. Pool is important. Also planning on more than one day at MK. Which do you all think is a better experience(all costs being equal)? Also, does the pool at storm along bay have water slides that appeal to smaller children, and chickens?
WE've only been to WDW one time before and stayed at CBR, which was great, but with the discounted rates for next spring and the possibility of queen sized beds make deluxes too good to resist. So I'm hopeful that you all with your wealth of knowledge and experience can guide me through this decision!

YC does have the better pool, however based on the ages of your kids, I think WL. Mostly because I assume that your trip will be more MK focused then EP. MK is a very convenient boat ride from WL. Also, I think the pool will be more then ok for a 4 & 6 yo.

I agree with Janine. With the younger kids, WL would be my choice over YC.

I would have to vote for WL. With the need for a pool/water slide for smaller children, and chickens the WL is perfect. Smaller pool that you won't have to worry about where are they like storm along bay, as hard as it is to believe our 3, DH13, DD10, DD9 spent most of the time in the pool playing in the current from the Silver Creek. It is a quick hop on the boats to the Chip and Dale campfire sing along at FW.

I'd probably do Beach Club over Yacht Club in the first place. If you were paying the same price though, the Yacht Club probably has more to offer than the Wilderness Lodge, which should be cheaper. Wilderness Lodge rooms are smaller and quite a bit darker. Not as well appointed. You would have more room to spread out at Yacht/Beach. But the Wilderness Lodge does have the gentle boat ride to Magic Kingdom and I much prefer the overall ambiance there to either Yacht or Beach.

Don't know if I agree about YC/BC room sizes. There are many different room layouts at both resorts. The first room they tried to give me at BC was smaller than a moderate.

The closet? The smallest rooms should be just north of 380 square feet at the Yacht Club versus 340 square feet at Wilderness Lodge. But there are various room configurations, especially if you're talking Villas.

I've stayed at WL and BC and I would also vote for WL given the ages of your kids. The pool there is great for younger kids. You can also take a very quick bus ride to the MK as well as a boat.

Thanks for all of your input, do have anythoughts on renting vacation club points?

The closet? The smallest rooms should be just north of 380 square feet at the Yacht Club versus 340 square feet at Wilderness Lodge. But there are various room configurations, especially if you're talking Villas.

The room I was given at BC had lots of space devoted to the sink area and bathroom; I'd say almost half the total square footage. The bedroom part was barely deep enough to fit two queen beds (or were they doubles?) against the wall. The desk wasn't even against the wall; it was perpendicular to it. Then there was the issue of the 4th floor dormer, which reduced the wall space at the far end of the room. There's too much left to chance at BC where room size is concerned. Since you're paying for view (I had the Garden View, not STD view) you're rolling the dice when it comes to room size and location.

At least at WL the rooms are all pretty much exactly the same size.

We've had this dilemma many times and we came up with the perfect solution. DO BOTH! I have also recommended this to many clients that took advantage of it and love d it. Both of these resorts are our favorites and it always was so hard to choose. Now this will only work with room discount ressies, not free dining. Also you need to be staying at least 4 nights otherwise it's not worth it.

The first resort reservation will also be the one with the park passes. Say your spending 6 nights and you split it 3 at YC and 3 at WL. The first res will be with a 6 day pass (or 7 day) which is good for 14 days from first use. The second res is room only. On checkout day from resort 1 Disney will move your bags for you to resort 2. When we did this we traveled two ways. The two bag system was resort one was out of bag one and resort 2 was out of bag two. We kept toiletries and daily items in a carry-on and bag 1 was dirty clothes after resort 1 stay. Once the airlines got greedy and charged for bags we only had carry-on and did laundry after we hit the parks. We hang out poolside at resort 2 after we checked in in the afternoon, finished laundry and head out for dinner and the parks. It's a great way to enjoy the resorts. We even did a stay at the All Stars and then end up 2 nights at the Floridian so we got to enjoy a resort that normally would break the bank. Now this is not for everyone as many people don't want to move. But staying at two resorts especially in different resort areas has so many advantages. At the WL you have quick access to Magic Kingdom and all the dining and activities at the magic Kingdom Resorts. Then staying at YC in the Epcot resort area you ware in walking distance to Epcot and short boat ride to the Studios and so much dining and recreation. It really is lots of fun.

If you do this whomever makes your ressies you need to add on the second res that you are already staying onsite at a different resort and will be arriving early. Disney will block you in a room that is vacant the night before provided they have one.
