I made an offer on 100 pts at VGC through the Timeshare store. It's the right use year, but just a few less points than I was hoping for. I'll mail off my deposit tomorrow and then the waiting begins.
I may know by Christmas if those points are mine! And, that'll give me enough time to plan a Thanksgiving trip to DLR. :whoo:

Thanks, Jill!
There's probably a few of you who have gone through the process. I'll sign and fax paperwork today. I'm sending a check for 10% with the original paperwork in the mail. Now what?

Brandie that is so exciting! :RpS_thumbsup: What a awesome Christmas present that would be. I will keep my fingers crossed for some Pixie Dust. I would love to own 100-125 points at VGC someday. I just think it is the best DVC there is. Keep us informed of the progess!

Sent in paperwork yesterday. At The Timeshare Store the contract shows as "Pending". I'll report if anything else comes up!
Does anyone have any idea how Disney makes decisions for ROFR?

I have no advice to offer on that one, maybe someone else knows more.
There is a great thread on the Dis where this is tracked on a regularly basis, of course it doesn't include every contract but does provide some solid information. For 2011these are the GCV contracts that have been ROFRd per Donald #1:
ROFR'D - VGC:
Breyean------- 250 VGC (Jun) $74, 62 '11 pts, all '12 pts, buyer pays closing, seller pays mf (sub 6/23, ROFR 7/14)
Homemom------- 160 VGC (Aug) $85, 78 banked '10 pts, 82 '12 pts, all '13 pts, buyer pays closing (sub 7/6, ROFR 8/1)
Raftislander----- 160 VGC (Jun) $85, 5 banked '10 pts, all '11 & '12 pts, buyer pays closing, seller pays mf (sub 10/3, ROFR 11/2) non-member
Breyean-------160 VGC (Jun) $80, all '11, '12 & '13 pts, buyer pays closing, seller pays mf (sub 10/27) Fidelity
Good Luck and keep us update as you go through the process!

Escrow company sent me paperwork. Now I have to decide if our tenancy is . . .
"Husband and Wife" or "Joint Tenants with Rights of Survivorship"
Huh???
I've got to look for my other two contracts and see which Disney chose when they filled out our paperwork for us.

LOL, I have no idea what any of our contracts say either. I think it says Husband and Wife, although I really consider the points mine and just bring along my husband and kids out of the goodness of my heart. :RpS_laugh:

I would look to see which one will make things the easiest should something happen (Heaven forbid) and one of you dies. I know....it sounds morbid but good planning can make things easier should it happen. For example, I know that have the word "or" on a car title verses "and" means that if your spouse dies, you don't have to provide a death certificate and have the name removed, etc because you can transfer the title without having the other spouse involved. I never used to think about these things until I worked at an auto auction and we got totaled cars. Situations where it said "and" where the driver was killed and the spouse is trying to get the insurance taken care of, etc turned into a HUGE mess and a long drawn out ordeal.
Now you've mentioned this.....I really should find out what ours says and make sure that we have it in a way that will make it easiest.

The lady that helped me at the escrow company suggested that both of my VGC contracts should have the same wording, so I pulled out my current contract and it's officially "Husband and wife, as joint tenants with the right of survivorship and not as tenants in common". We're writing that in the "other" fill in the blank option. I think that "right of survivorship" part allows either one of us to have ownership in the event of a death.
I'll fax this on Monday and wait some more!

Brandie,
I just made it through ROFR and it took only a little over 2 weeks. I offered $70 for 180 BCV points. I think they are accepting most reasonable offers. Good luck. It is so exciting!!!

Yep....that right of survivorship sounds right!! And it does make sense to have the same wording on both contracts.

Thanks, Sue!! They are mine, but I don't have access to them, yet. This just came in the mail today . . .
"To keep you apprised of your transaction referenced above, we are forwarding this correspondence to inform you that your closing has taken place. The executed Warranty Deed has been forwarded to the county in which the resort resides for recording. Typically the recording process is approxiamately 1-3 weeks for properties located in the state of Florida and 3-6 weeks for properties outside the state of Florida.
Once we have received the recorded deed from the county, we will forward the required documents to the resort so that they may complete the transfer on their records. This process may take up to 2 weeks. Once the resort has completed the transfer, you will be able to contact them and begin using your property as per the contracted usage."
I've still got a while before I can use those points! Two whole months, maybe. :RpS_unsure:

It will be a long two months I am sure! Still when you have them in your account, they are yours till 2060! I am green with envy :RpS_wink: I don't think any DVC will ever replace VGC in my heart. It truly is my favorite even though I have only stayed at 4 of the DVCs. Depending on which college my son choses we might be able to visit again next year....LOL! Let us know when it is offical!!

So according to the dates of your posts, it only took from 1/27 to 2/3 to record the deed and get you on DVC's list? That wasn't too bad.
Could you reproduce the timeline from offer acceptance to being able to access DVC member services?

Sue, I didn't get a single person to respond with an "I'm in" so it doesn't look like my points limit is a problem. :RpS_wink:
George, I believe that my ROFR took so much time because it was near the holidays. At the Timeshare Store, they were pretty sure that was the case. I suspect that if Disney waives that option that you will hear sooner than the 30 days they are allowed.
