I was very excited to finally try Bistro de Paris. It was closed on our honeymoon and on two subsequent trips we had the meal plan, which did not include it. So when we decided to go without the meal plan this trip, I thought it was a great opportunity to try this.
While there were some disappointing reviews, overall it seemed positive. A quiet, elegant location that did not seem to be in a park, with great food. Exactly what we wanted.
Unfortunately, we did not experience much of that. While the food was very good, everything else was disappointing.
Our table, tucked next to a side window overlooking construction, was not great but it was private. It was also set wrong. When they tried to serve us bread, we had to wait while they hunted for bread plates that should have been on the table already.
We ordered the price-fixe three course menu with the wine pairing. Only the first course wine was served before the food. The other courses, we were well into eating before our wine appeared. The food was very good, at least.
Our waiter was indifferent.
Finally, our coffee course was served without cream or sugar. When the sugar eventually appeared, it was white sugar in packets. The cream showed up some time after that. In fact, I had pushed my cup away in exasperation before it finally appeared.
I found the room itself to be very loud and did not notice any difference between it and dining downstairs. We absolutely felt like we were in a theme park.
In the end, we did not feel like it was money well-spent.
