View Full Version : Best time for character breakfast?

We have 2 days planned at MK for next week. We are planning a Liberty Tree Tavern dinner for one day, and DD wants a Crystal Palace breakfast for one day. Well, I've had a 10:35 breakfast for awhile now on our 2nd day. I was trying to get one on our first day, and just managed to land an 8:10 ressie for our day 1. So, my question is, which time would be better? We've done late breakfast before and have enjoyed it. We've never done an early breakfast, though. If I keep the 10:35, I would still want to be at the park at 8:30 for RD, so I'd only actually be going a half hour earlier. I'm leaning towards the 8:10, but just not sure if I should make the switch. I would really appreciate any advice and/or past experience with early -vs- late breakfast. Thank you.

I've never done a pre-park opening breakfast. I may do it once at some point, just to see an empty Main St., but for now, I prefer the extra sleep time and not feeling pressured to be done and out for RD. I've always opted for the 10:30ish brunch. Get some prime park touring in, then relax for a more quiet/less pressured meal.
I don't do this every day, just for CP or Tusker House.
The benefit of the early breakfast is the pictures on Main Street with virtually no one around and the fact that you may not be "wasting" "precious morning time" eating breakfast. On the other hand, that may very well be a rushed breakfast and when you're paying $30 a head, you might want to sit and enjoy it without asking for the bill immediately after you sit down and rushing through the meal. The benefit of the late breakfast is that you have 90 minutes or so to run around the Park when it's empty, collect FASTPASSes, and then take a breath and enjoy breakfast.

This is why we do pre-park opening character breakfasts. I'm only at the park a bit earlier than I would have been without the breakfast. If it were my first day at MK, there's no way I'd be willing to stop after only an hour and a half to eat.

Are you usually out before the park opens? Or have people gotten a 10 - 15 minute head start?
Never mind, I just saw your response to the same question on the Tusker House thread. If you can get in by 8 and out before RD at 9, that's good.

Thanks everyone. I've been thinking about this all day and, after reading everyone's comments, I think I'll just keep the later breakfast. I'm worried that with an 8:10 breakfast, either we will end up eating so fast we get sick, or we'll end up missing 15 - 30 minutes first thing in the morning. DS loves the Pooh characters, and I want him to be able to enjoy them. Also, I think my kids will eat better with a later meal. They don't typically eat much for breakfast at home, so I don't think they would really eat much that early here, either. Then, we'll end up loosing more park time because we'll have to stop somewhere for lunch when they get hungry. So, I guess I'll be cancelling a Crystal Palace 8:10 breakfast for 6 on 8/31 if anyone needs it. Thanks for helping me make up my mind!

Another plus... a late bfast is less busy, so the characters aren't rushed and will spend more time with you.
