Does anyone have any advice on the best place to rent points. I am a little worried about renting from an individual. Please help if you know of any trustworthy owners that want to rent their points. We are looking for 400 points for a June 2012 stay at BLT. Thanks

Although I have never used his service myself, I have heard only good things about his service. He is recommened on Mousesavers and also advertises on DVC News and The Dis Boards. You might pay a little bit more than renting directly from an owner, but there is no worries about renting from someone you don't know.

Yeah, Davids is the best "big operation" to rent from if you dont want to try with individuals. You may pay a little bit more for Dave, but you can be certain he wont mess up your reservation.

I agree with the others. I've only rented once, for a few nights and I did it from an individual on the DIS Rent/Trade board. But my outlay of cash wasn't very much so my risk was low. If I was going to rent a lot of points, I would probably go with David's service as well. One of our members here, Joy, has used him quite a bit and has been very happy.

I have never rented personally, but I know my friend has rented from http://www.dvc-rental.com/ and was very happy and plans on using them again.

Thank you guys for the responses, I found both of the sites that you guys mentioned and would definitely feel more comfortable renting from a bigger operation. Dave is about a dollar more per point, but I guess it would be worth it to be certain that I won't have any problems.

You may already be aware but reservations should be made 11 months, so for next June that would be July; or right now. If you were looking for dates prior to June 27th all the owners have already had an opportunity to book their rooms. The standard and MK view rooms are the first to go, so if you are looking for one of those you may want to contact David as soon as possible. Lakeview is easier to come by. Good Luck!

Thanks again for the advice, I just finished filling out the reservation request at Dave's site. After looking around, I feel really comfortable that it was the right choice. Now I just have to wait and see if they can meet our request, I really hope we can get the 2BR Villa at BLT. Our family and my best friend's family are going together and already have our hearts set on being able to watch the fireworks from the roof. Need a little pixie dust!

We have used The DVC Rental Store (http://www.dvcrentalstore.com) on three occasions and could not be happier. The owner, Paul is great to work with and responded to all of our emails very quickly. They are also $1.00/point cheaper than David.

DITTO, DITTO, DITTO!!! Paul is AWESOME! Not only is he cheaper the personalized service is amazing. He will answer any and all questions about anything you need to know Disney and runs special occasionally on his Facebook site. Be sure to "like" him on Facebook too. He visits WDW and other DVC locations often and has great first hand experience and advice. I can't think of a time that I emailed him a question and he didn't answer almost immediately.
As you can tell, I highly recommend him. Before I found him, I tried to contact David and price our trip but just got automated responses and not much help at all AND David was more expensive. It sounds from what I have read that many owners are dealing with Paul now too because he is able to get their points rented and isn't so rigid while getting them the best price.

The Timeshare Store also now rents points for $12 each as well as selling them. I haven't used the service but have read postive repsonses on other boards from people who have.
