We were just here in May and loved it. I had heard many people complain about how long the halls are so we requested a room close to the lobby on the 3rd floor and we got our request. We had 2 rooms (a Standard View Studio and a Savannah View 2-bedroom Villa) that were both nice. I totally forgot to take pics so won't be posting any....sorry.

The 2 bedroom Villa was very nice. There is a master bedroom with King bed and master bath that was gorgeous. Disney's attention to detail was ever present in all aspects. The bathroom tile had a mural with animals across it.....reminiscent of the beginning of "The Lion King" as the animals are gathering to meet their new future king. The room had a table w/chair, a big comfy chair in the corner, dresser, flat screen TV and a door that lead out to the verandah.

The kitchen area was actually smaller then I've seen in both the THV and at BCV but still very nice. We brought a water filter to put on the tap that did not really work. We finally worked it enough to get it to stay on but it wasn't ideal. Oddly enough....it fit perfectly on the tap in the Studio. We will know next time to bring adapters with us. The main area had a convertible sofa that was relatively comfortable, a convertible chair that folded out to a small sized twin bed, a flat screen TV, and an entrance onto the verandah.

The Living room area was very nice and there was tons of seating around the table. We LOVED the third bathroom in the main area (which I'm sure has something to do with the smaller Kitchen size). With 7 of us in the same room....having 3 bathrooms was a luxury that we all enjoyed.

The second bedroom had 2 queen sized beds, dresser, flat screen TV, small table and chair, and it's own entrance onto the verandah. There was also another full bathroom in there.

We love each having our own access to the verandah....especially in the mornings when we'd go out as we were getting ready to see what animals were out there. The view was spectacular and we always saw some animals no matter what time of day we were out there. We even took an afternoon nap out there and when we woke up, there were 4 giraffes, 5 wildebeest, 6 zebras, 3 long horned cows (can't remember the actual name), 2 ostriches and 3 crown headed birds (again....not actual name). It was amazing and so peaceful!!!

As I mentioned, the attention to detail was just amazing. The bathroom murals were so beautiful and the lace on the curtains actually had pictures of Lion King Characters but they were so subtle the you had to actually look close to see them. This was one of the details that had my new niece-in-law jumping around in excitement. Hidden Mickey's were all over the place which was so much fun.

I feel that I must go into a little more detail on the bathrooms. The one thing that really confused me was the way they had them set up. For whatever reason, they are split up so that the toilet is in it's own little area but the showers/tubs are in the area with the sink. This was just confusing to me. In most places that I've been to, the shower/bath is the thing that is separate from the sink. Or they have both the shower/bath and the toilet in one are and the sink on it's own. It was just weird to have it the other way. Basically.....it meant that only one person could be in the bathroom getting ready in the mornings unless they didn't mind showering with someone standing right next to them getting ready at the sink. (Something that doesn't work for me.....I don't know....something about brushing my teeth while someone is naked in the shower right next to me.....especially since it is glass so you can see everything!!!) Beyond this one thing......I really LOVED the bathrooms. DMIL is the only one who took a bath in the jetted tub and she said it was wonderful. I'm not really a bath person so that was fine for me.

Oh and can I just say.....having a washer and dryer is AMAZING!!!

The Studio was also very nice. It had one large Queen size bed and a convertible sofa (also Queen). There was a small kitchenette across from the bathroom with a mini fridge, sink, cabinets with some dishes, and a coffee maker. As I mentioned above....the water filter worked perfectly on the tap in this room.

The bathroom was smaller but still nice enough....and again...the toilet was in it's own little room...that you had to walk through the rest of the bathroom to get to. The animal pictures on the wall were nice but nothing like the one in the master bath of the 2-bedroom. The view we had was of the entry way so basically.....we could watch Valet Parking do their jobs!!! It was fine though.....when DH and I were in there.....we really were just sleeping so didn't need or want a view. And when my nephew and his wife were in their, they could just come over to the 2-bedroom and use the villa there if they wanted to see animals.

The negatives to this resort is that the only QS is over at the pool bar with minimal selections. If you wanted more, you had to go over to Jambo house, which was a bit of a walk away. We did take the bus over there once as all park buses go there after picking up at Kidani. It wasn't a horrible walk and we don't usually mind the walk but if you wanted to grab something fast.....well...it isn't going to happen at Kidani. The next negative is how big it is. I was amazed when I'd look out over the Savannah and realize that those buildings I'm looking at across from us were part of our building. That would have been one insane walk!!! luckily, you can park underneath which helps. But if you don't have a car, make sure you request a room close to the lobby!!!

We really enjoyed Kidani and are glad that we decided to stay there this time. I really think that it is worth going to at least once. Oh and as for the Savannah View....I'm sure that we would have been happy without it but it sure was neat to have those animals just right outside to look at!!!

Just a couple of observations, from experience. If you do get a room at the end you can cut through the parking area it makes it much shorter!! We had the very last room in the building by the feeding barn and it was awesome!!! This time, because my mom is getting older, we did request a room closer to the lobby, right by the Timon and Pumba elevators since those take you to the pool area!
QS is kind of a pain but, in our opinion, the walk to the Mara was worth it! The African stew in a bread bowl was fantastic!!!
I think the kids favorite part was the "fire pit", they learned so much sitting out there chatting with the CM's!

Thank you for the fabulous review! I know I can trust your opinions. I've been wondering about AKL - so many love it. I have to ask...How was the bus service to the parks OR did you drive yourselves?

The bus service was fantastic!! We NEVER waited for more then 15 minutes for a bus.....even when one was driving away just as we got to the bus stop. I have stayed at POP, SSR, BCV and now AKV and POP had the best service with AKV at a very close second. The only place that AKV was behind POP at was that there was that stop over at Jambo House each time.....but that really wasn't bad. Oh and we always use the buses so having good bus service is a huge plus for us!!!!
