Predicted 4-Park Crowd Level: 6.
Sum of Predicted 4-Park Average Wait Times: 122 minutes.
Actual 4-Park Crowd Level: 8.
Sum of Actual 4-Park Average Wait Times: 142 minutes.
Weather: High of 75 and low of 57. A warm, clear, sunny day.
Animal Kingdom was expected to come in at 30 minutes and ended up at 33 minutes with above average waits from 10am through close. Waits in the afternoon were long enough that it kept people in the Park later into the evening, causing high waits after 6pm, in addition to the reduction in capacity at Safaris causing long waits.
Epcot’s predicted overall average was 29 minutes and that’s exactly what we got. Waits are elevated with the above average overall crowd level and Festival of the Arts pulling in local visitors.
We were expecting 35 minutes at Hollywood Studios and got 40 as Star Tours and Great Movie Ride struggled to keep up with the higher overall crowds. Toy Story Mania’s 42 minutes is actually below average and given it ordinarily runs at full capacity all day, is a good indication of how the day went overall. The first and last hours of operation remain the best times to visit – the afternoon is going to see long waits at these five rides pretty much no matter what day you visit.
Magic Kingdom came in well above expected due to a number of problems, including morning downtime at three major attractions and insufficient staffing. I wrote about how my morning went there and then covered what it looked like in the afternoon as part of this post: http://www.easywdw.com/easy/blog/magic-kingdom-seven-dwarfs-mine-train-rope-drop-with-new-opening-procedure/. There’s a lot more info there.
