9/13/15 Update: Menu updated.
Location: Kusafiri is located in the Africa section on the left side before arriving at the entrance to Kilimanjaro Safaris.
Food Type: Coffee, Beverages, and Treats.
Dining Plan: Yes, most items can be purchased with a snack credit.
A Hot Breakfast Wrap Egg, Sausage, Spinach and Goat Cheese – $6.79 is available before 11am.
The items in the case. That’s the Elephant Ear Pastry in the lower left hand corner.
“Colossal” would not be the first word that comes to mind as we eye this cinnamon roll. It’s considerably smaller than the cinnamon roll (RIP) that used to be offered at Main Street Facade or currently at Gaston’s Tavern. It’s as flat as it looks. I was not in the mood to drop $9 towards diabeetus on this particular afternoon so I can’t comment on flavor. If you have tried it, you’re welcome to let the website know what you thought in the comments.
Unique Items: The Colossal Cinnamon Roll, Elephant Ear Pastry, Turtle Brownie, and Gourmet Cupcakes are unique or rare. The cupcakes are usually also available at Creature Comforts/Starbucks.
- Unique treats that taste good, several of which come with a souvenir top.
- Rarely a line.
- Convenient to Africa.
- Serves a quick breakfast.
- Limited menu.
- Often doesn’t begin serving unique cupcakes and treats until after 11am. Usually closes at 5pm.
- Not particularly convenient unless you’re standing in Africa.
Value: Standard to Good. Most of the items are standard Disney prices, but the unique treats present a good value and are better than a lot of the pre-packaged desserts.
Reputation: Popular with the cupcake crawl crowd and people in the know, Kusafiri is often overlooked for more obvious locations. It comes highly recommended if you’re looking for a baked treat.
Kusafiri only has a few tables to the left of it.
Turn around and head back to the Dawa Bar seating area if you’re looking to sit and enjoy your treats/beverages. There’s additional seating behind Tamu Tamu Refreshments.
