We head into Magic Kingdom from the Polynesian on the Resort Monorail during the 19-minute 36-second window that it was operating on Sunday May 22nd.
Ample Hills Creamery is ummmmmmmm perhaps not the direction I would have gone with name-wise if I was looking to go into the $10 ice cream cone business. But then I am also not opening a $10 ice cream cone business on the BoardWalk either. Ample Hills otherwise arrives from Brooklyn, New York and may be better known among the Disney community as the producer of the Light Side and Dark Side ice cream flavors to advertise The Force Awakens. I was actually thinking (yes I do that sometimes) the other day at Disney Springs about how many people you would have to ask before you found someone that was unaware that there was a new Star Wars movie last year. There are not a lot of products with that kind of penetration.
Just like the title says, Disney looks to have extended Animal Kingdom’s close to 11pm every night through Monday September 5th. The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic will be scheduled at 9pm and 10:30pm nightly. If the 5,000 seat capacity per show is correct, it’s going to be interesting to see how many people are shut out as that’s a little higher than the capacity of a single Fantasmic show. 10:30pm is late enough that most families with kids won’t be able to stay out that late, but 9pm Fantasmic shows in summer typically fill to capacity. To what lengths parents will try to keep their kids up as they get locked out of the early show remains to be seen. The website will be impressed if the logistics of this experiment work out.
After spending some time covering morning touring in this post, we now find ourselves in Frontierland just after 1:15pm on Saturday May 7th.
Disney announced numerous dates and offered details on many of this summer’s new offerings.
At Animal Kingdom, Tiffins/Nomad Lounge and most of the nighttime entertainment will open/begin on May 27th, but the first Jungle Book: Alive with Magic show is scheduled the following night on the 28th.
Dining Packages are available at Tiffins and Tusker House. Tiffins includes one appetizer, entree, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage for $67/adults and $32 kids ages 3-9. At Tusker House, the dining package for breakfast is $37/adult and $23/kids ages 3-9. Lunch and dinner are both $49/adult and $30 kids. That’s an upcharge of $7/adult and $5/child versus regular prices. Both include a reserved seat in wherever the reserved section is located. Reservations open on Saturday May 21st. 6am online and 7am by phone. FastPass+ should be available beginning at 7am on May 21st as well. I would not expect any discounts to be offered on the Dining Packages, including Tables in Wonderland.
