Mr Kamal’s

by josh on September 9, 2012

Location: Mr. Kamal’s is located in the back of Animal Kingdom on the walkway that connects Africa and Asia near the entrance to Flights of Wonder.

Food Type: “Boneless Chicken Wings,” which are really Disney Nuggets dipped in bottled sauce.

Dining Plan: Mr. Kamal’s is listed as participating on the Dining Plan, but doesn’t offer a dessert, so I’m not sure how it works.  Bottled Beverages are a snack credit.

Discounts: None.

Menu:

Unique Items: The “Boneless Chicken Wings” are unique in that you can’t find the Sweet-and-Sour or Chili Garlic sauce elsewhere, but these are your usual Disney nuggets.

Advantages:

  • Rarely a line.
  • Quick, personal service.
  • Nuggets are usually freshly fried.
  • You can order the Wings without sauce for a quick plain-nugget fix.

Disadvantages:

  • Extremely limited menu.
  • “Boneless Chicken Wing” moniker is a bit misleading.
  • No indoor seating.

Value: Very low.  Six Nuggets and a small bag of chips for more than eight dollars with tax doesn’t scream value.

Reputation: Overlooked by the masses, Mr. Kamal’s used to just sell your standard Disney nuggets.  Now they dip them in sauce and call them Wings.  If this is what you’re looking for, then you’re in business.  But there are better tasting, (seemingly) healthier options all around.

Food Choices:

Chicken Wings in Chili Garlic Sauce:

These are billed as “Boneless Chicken Wings,” but they’re really Disney’s deep fried Chicken Breast Nuggets tossed in sauce from a jug. For more than eight dollars with tax, I couldn’t help but feel slightly ripped off. Certainly not much of a value here. This is the “chili garlic” variety and they did have a nice kick. I suppose it’s about what you would pay for Disney nuggets at other quick service locations.  And they did taste better than your regular nuggets with the sauce.  It was just a bit disappointing to get your run-of-the-mill nuggets rather than something a little more interesting.  I’m not a big fan of the bagged chips that seem to be more and more prevalent either.  So in closing, I recommend these if you know what you’re getting for the money, but those expecting something radically different from the usual will be disappointed.

Seating:

Mr. Kamal’s does not have dedicated seating, though there are a few tables in the vicinity. Snag one if they’re available or mosey down to the Yak & Yeti Quick Service area where you’ll find even more tables and chairs. There is no air-conditioned seating nearby – you would have to march over to Pizzafari in Discovery Island or Restaurantosaurus in the far corner of DinoLand USA. These are the tables nearby – they offer a great view but are tough to come by, especially from 11am – 2pm and 5pm – close.

Condiments: Just napkins.
