Frontierland Turkey Leg Cart

by josh on October 9, 2012

The Turkey Leg Cart is located in what I call Frontierland Cart Alley.

The Turkey Leg Cart specifically is located across from the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade.

It’s a pretty basic menu – the major draw is the Turkey Legs.  Turkey Legs may also be available in Tomorrowland and/or across from Columbia Harbour House in Liberty Square when crowds are heavy.  Lines there are shorter.  This Cart is always operating though.  You should be able to get a Turkey Leg, beverage, and chocolate chip cookie on the Dining Plan.

The Turkey Legs are huge as you can see.

Almost as big as the Tower of Terror!  I’m not crazy about the Turkey Legs, though you probably want to try one for posterity’s sake.  The problem I’ve encountered is that the bone in the middle splinters, making it difficult to eat with shreds of bone sticking out all over.  You might imagine it’s just a hunk of meat around a thick interior bone, but that hasn’t been my experience.  They also say these have north of 1,000 calories, though I obviously have never verified.  Removing some of the skin should lower the calorie count.  They are certainly a theme park staple and the meat is very good.  I recommend trying one at some point, just be aware of the caveat that they may be difficult to eat.

Went to Disneyland with my mom, my 3 year old, and a friend of mine. Mom was on a low-carb diet, so we stopped to get her one before getting lunch for the rest of us. All of us ended up sharing the Turkey Leg and some other single serving something or other (can’t remember what – it was overshadowed by the Turkey Leg), because it was so big and so awesome. I can only assume that they use the same “recipe” in WDW. I’ll find out in a few weeks. Yum.
